Terminator Salvation (Open Thread)

This is not the future my mother warned me about.

So, Mighty Readers, what did you think of Terminator Salvation? A worthy successor to T1 and T2 (forgetting that T3 was ever perpetrated on us)?

Comments, please . . .

Indie Film Fridays Sundays: The Hunt for Gollum

The Hunt for Gollum, a 40-minute high-definition film created "by fans for fans" of The Lord of the Rings, debuts today on the Internet. NPR's All Things Considered has a brief article on the making of the film and the copyright issues involved in fanfic and fan films.

The Hunt for Gollum has clearly been a labor of love for its 150 all-volunteer creators, and the trailers look fantastic, as you can see from the one above. Enjoy.

Today Is Free Comic Book Day!

Today is Free Comic Book Day, a magical day when comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely FREE to anyone who comes into their stores. FCBD was originally conceived as a event to help promote comics to a broader audience and to introduce comics to young readers as a gateway to a lifelong love of reading.…and comics. The annual event has really taken off and this year retailers will give away more than 2 million comics. In order to lend our support for this year’s event – and, of course, to shamelessly promote Mid-Ohio-Con 2009 – we sent copies of our Mini Watchmen poster by Chris Giarrusso to a number of retailers in Ohio and beyond, including Alternate Reality Comics, Bell Book & Comics, Bill’s Books & More, Comic Collectibles, Comic Emporium, Comics, Cards & Collectibles, Comic Town, Graham Crackers Comics, Haunted Palace, Keith’s Comics, Laughing Ogre Comics, Packrat Comics, and Source Comics & Games. If you’re a retailer and you’d like copies of the Mini Watchmen poster to display and give away at your store, drop us an email. Visit freecomicbookday.com for more information about the event and to find a participating retailer near you.
